Milestone - Roll Over

Ryan has been able to lift his neck up for quite a while now. He has been trying hard to roll over for weeks now but never really made it. We were not quite sure when he will finally be able to achieve this feat.

Then, suddenly, on 6th November 2008 at 6:50am, barely 6 days past his 5th month birthday, this milestone was achieved.

He woke up as usual wanting his milk. After feeding him, I put him on the bed, laying on his back with his pacifier. He was happily sucking away and I was more than happy as I could at least get back to my interrupted sleep. If he could get back to sleep, I would be able to grab another 2 hours of sleep before his next feed.

As usual, he was lifting up his legs, playing with his pillow while sucking his pacifier. Suddenly, with one swift roll, he did what we were longing to see for a long while. He rolled over and was on his tummy. He lifted up his head and looked at us and gave us a smile as if to say "Hey guys. See. I made it!" Both of us were just ecstatic. My wife reminded me to take note of the date and time since this to us was an important milestone that we have witnessed together.

We let him played on his own and he fell asleep soon after. We went back to continue our dreams as well but with a smile on our face, knowing that our son has just achieved another significant milestone in his life.

Yupe. Sure is exciting but have to pay more attention to him now as he can easily roll over and fall off the table top which we used to change his diapers..

Parents are funny breed of people. When their babies don't start talking, we get worried. When they don't start walking, we panic. But when they start talking, we want them to talk less else we get a headache. When they start running everywhere, we prefer them to sit still...sigh. I'm sure they are confused and blur as to what exactly we, parents want from them...hehe...
